This weekend I noticed that Carter was not feeling well. He was not eating, drinking or visiting the box. If Carter is not interested in food something is very wrong. He is my sweet 22 pound 6 year old cat, that I rescued from a filthy home in 2002 along with his sister Katie. Anyway, I took Carter to the vet on Sunday and they did some blood work. The inside of his mouth is covered in ulcers, so the vet told me to bring him back on Monday and they would clean his teeth. I dropped him off on Monday morning and as I was pulling into the parking lot at work the vet called. His bloodwork had come back and it was not good. Carter was in kidney failure which is common in cats but very uncommon for such a young cat. They put him on iv fluids and an antibiotic. I went to see him twice on Monday and he is pitiful. The vet I normally see called me today and said they wanted to monitor him one more day in the rare case it is a severe kidney infection, but more than likely it is a congenital kidney disease. Tomorrow may be my Carter's last day on earth. I am very sad and upset. Before Jeff and I got married, I didn't come home to an empty house, I came home to Katie and Carter. They are my family and I am so attached. I am so thankful the Lord gave me Carter and I have loved everyday with him. He has brought me so much joy!!! Say a prayer for me and my sweet Carter.
